Letter: Boost in stipend is dishonorable

With so many people either unemployed or underemployed, it is nice to see at least one elected official had the conscience to speak against giving herself a raise by increasing the legislators’ daily stipend. Three cheers for Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center. Once again Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, not only shames himself but had to add the statement “I voted with the little guys.”

Huh? This from the man with two government-paid jobs. I hope people remember how these representatives voted when the next election comes around.
