Former city councilor Stewart to join recycling hall of fame

Esther Short: Jeanne Stewart, a former Vancouver city councilor who worked to help boost recycling efforts on the Clark County Solid Waste Advisory Commission, is being inducted into the Washington State Recycling Association’s Hall of Fame. Stewart and others will be honored for their recycling achievements at a gala during the association’s annual conference on May 6 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington. The ceremony will also applaud a handful of “Recyclers of the Year” from around the state, including the King County Solid Waste Division, the Plastic Whale Project in Thurston County and Amazon.com for its recyclable packaging initiative. Other hall of fame inductees include Bart Kale of Nucor Steel’s Seattle division and Earl Snyder, who created the Kirkland Recycling Center business. before his death in 1987
