It’s come to my attention that all too many of us do not vote or acquaint ourselves with the ballot issues. There are multiple reasons for this problem.
I’ve taken time out of my weekly schedule to meet with people at the farmers market on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. I ask people if they are registered to vote, and if they are not, I have the forms normally available at the Clark County Auditor’s Office/Public Service Center on Franklin Street. They can be completed in minutes, right then and there, and I’ll take them to the auditor. Or, people can take them home and complete them, put postage on and mail them in. Voting is a civic right and duty.
There was a time when people took the right to vote more seriously. Please help me to get the word out. You must register to vote. The auditor’s office wants all people to have that right, but if you do not register in advance of an election, your vote will not be counted. Young people, age 18 or older, get yourself registered. If you are new to Clark County, get registered and by all means cast a ballot. Let’s keep what’s left of our democratic republic by voting your conscience.
