Letter: Bring easy solutions back to earth

The Columbian

For years I have listened to the powers that be tell us that we must save the planet by being environmentally responsible via emission control, recycling, and all other conservation efforts. As I took my recyclables to the transfer station recently, I found no receptacle for plastic containers, only a sign saying “No Plastics.” Concerned, I called the Clark County Environmental Services Department. The person I spoke with told me that the private company was not making any profit on those items so we should just put them in the garbage and let them go into the landfills, the very thing they told us to stop doing years ago. Now, as always, it comes down to the money.

Maybe Clark County Environmental Services Director Don Benton could look into this problem and help get us back on track to protecting the Earth.
