Letter: Progressive action wins enemies

In his April 15 letter “Next step is impeachment,” Tom Stokes makes his case for Obama’s impeachment by parroting the same old, same old chant from the extreme right.

He implies Obama lied about people keeping their doctors or health insurance. In truth, this miscalculation sprang from his naive underestimation of the greed and avarice of the insurance companies and investors.

Does Stokes believe that Obama set IRS attack dogs on his political foes ala Richard Nixon? Was Obama behind the IRS misbehavior? Not a chance. He’s too politically astute.

No matter how many times the talk show cretins howl about cover-up in the Benghazi tragedy, there’s no proof. Never was, never will be.

The facts in the Eric Holder “gun-walking” case are far from clear and stemmed from long-held Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives policies that dated back to … anyone … anyone … the Bush administration.

Has Obama “weakened” our worldwide image? Only if you consider using diplomacy instead of naked aggression is weakness. Most of the world held us in utter contempt for our misadventure in Iraq.

Obama’s real crimes, in the eyes of right wing plutocrats, are as follows.

(A) He’s a progressive.

(B) He won two elections.

(C) He’s African-American.

Rich white guys don’t like it when their power is usurped.
