At Your Place Senior Care is presenting a free screening of "Gen Silent" at 3 p.m. Monday at Washington State University Vancouver in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 129, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave. Parking in the blue lot is $3.

The documentary by filmmaker Stu Maddux asks six LGBT seniors if they will hide their friends, their spouses and their entire lives in order to survive in the care system. The film puts a face on what experts in the film call an epidemic: gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender seniors so afraid of discrimination by caregivers or bullying by other seniors that many go back into the closet.

After the screening Temple Lentz will moderate an open forum panel discussion about how the community can better serve LGBT seniors.
