Many Washington voters saying no to taxes

SEATTLE — Voters in King County who rejected higher taxes for bus service weren’t the only ones in Washington in a negative mood for Tuesday’s election.

Spokane Valley voters rejected a $22 million bond measure to pay for two new libraries, although they approved a measure to create a library capital facilities district, The Spokesman-Review reports.

Voters in Sequim rejected a $154 million bond measure to renovate schools, the Peninsula Daily News reports.

Voters in Bridgeport rejected a $4 million school bond issue that would have brought $8 million in state matching funds if it had passed, The Wenatchee World reports.

But voters in Tacoma approved a $198 million bond issue to upgraded parks and the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, The News Tribune reports.
