Letter: Spring unsprung without baseball

The Columbian
Published: April 24, 2014, 5:00pm

Well here it is late April, another wonderful spring in the Portland-Vancouver area. But not if you’re a baseball fan wanting to watch America’s pastime. If you are, you can look forward to another spring and summer without baseball. After 107 years of baseball, we now have a foreign sport called soccer where most times neither team wins? What a waste of time. I feel sorry for the young kids who will never know about the long baseball history in this area. I live for the day when the area wakes up and baseball (such as was once the Portland Beavers) returns to Portland’s Providence Park to replace the travesty that was once a beautiful baseball park.
