Jay Keuter has been hired as chief information officer for Vancouver Public Schools. The board of directors approved his appointment at the Tuesday school board meeting. His start date is May 5 with an annual salary of $130,622.

Keuter’s career with Portland Public Schools spanned more than 20 years. He began as a classroom teacher at Franklin High School in 1990 and has held several positions in the district’s instructional technology department. In Portland, Keuter has been instrumental in making the connection between technology and instruction and has directed technology upgrades throughout the district. Keuter earned bachelor of science and master of education degrees from Oregon State University and an Oregon education administrative license from Lewis and Clark College.

Keuter will succeed Lisa Greseth, who has accepted a position as director of teaching, learning and assessment with Camas School District beginning in July. Greseth, who has worked with Vancouver Public Schools for 19 years, was appointed chief information officer in 2012.
