Letter: Instill consequences of drinking

By age 18, 70 percent of kids are already drinking. What if it was your own child who was an underage drinker? Drinking done as a child is mostly caused by depression and peer pressure. It affects people globally by putting the lives of innocent people in danger, harming brain growth and resulting in many deaths throughout the years. Every one of those years, about 5,000 kids are killed from these causes. It’s an issue that needs to be addressed and stopped, or at least hindered.

Talk to your child about the consequences from drinking and what may happen. This could prevent kids from drinking before they turn 21. You can educate your kids about the negativity of underage drinking, which may help as a solution to this problem into the future.

Another solution would be to act as a positive influence and role model. A large amount of kids follow what their parents do, so stay positive and responsible and so will your child.
