Buoy 10 salmon derby scheduled Aug. 17

HAMMOND, Ore. — Registration is open for the Buoy 10 Salmon Quest scheduled Aug. 17 at the Columbia River estuary.

Organized by the Three Rivers Sportsman’s Alliance, the event costs $95 to enter. The winner will be determined on the heaviest total weight of one chinook and one coho, said Greg Osburn, alliance executive director.

The weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. at Hammond boat basin. A catered barbecue will follow.

First place will be worth $750, while the runner-up gets $500 and third place earns $250.

Entry in the event includes a year membership, a t-shirt, a cap and a subscription to the quarterly newsletter.

The goal of the alliance is to enhance the operations of fish hatcheries. To register, go online to threeriverssportsmansalliance.com.
