SEATTLE — A 17-year-old boy who was sitting between the rails of a railroad track was knocked aside when he was hit by a freight train.
The Bellingham Herald reports he suffered serious injuries about 2 a.m. Sunday and was taken to a hospital.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas (mel-OWN’-us) says the train was traveling about 15 mph through the area west of the Bellingham city limits. He says the crew was sounding the horn when the boy was struck.
