A Vancouver motorcyclist was hospitalized after he struck a car Wednesday afternoon on state Highway 500.

Craig Smithline, 47, was westbound on his Harley-Davidson just east of Falk Road when Washington State Patrol troopers said he rear-ended a Honda Civic. Smithline’s motorcycle then slid across the intersection and hit a curb on the northwest corner, according to WSP. The crash, reported at 12:38 p.m., briefly clogged traffic in the area.

Smithline was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday evening. The driver of the Civic, Vancouver resident Chad Norton, 36, was not injured.

The WSP is investigating the cause of the collision and has not said who’s at fault.
