Letter: It’s a bridge concept, not a design

If you check the Internet for information about the Florida-based FIGG Engineering Group you will be impressed with some of their well-designed, functional bridges. The company has impressive credentials. The east county bridge design presented by FIGG to Clark County commissioners is a “concept” design, meaning the design is not presented as a “real” engineering-based proposal. In November, Clark County voters will express an “advisory” vote on the “concept.” No real engineering data has been presented. The design probably came from research on location taken from a map and other data and created on a design computer. So we will vote on a “concept.” Commissioner David Madore promised firm, hard financial data before the vote. The clock is ticking, only 12 weeks and a few days till we vote. Better get those “bean counters” to work on the data — FIGG or Clark County folks?
