The Washougal School District Board of Directors is looking to fill two vacancies following recent resignations.

Longtime board member Blaine Peterson, who represented District 3, stepped down last month after moving to a new home outside his district. The district covers the southern-most slice of Washougal.

“Blaine Peterson was elected to the Washougal School Board in March 2007, and his leadership and commitment to the district is deeply appreciated,” district officials said in a press release sent out Tuesday.

Not long before Peterson resigned, another seat opened when Jocelyn Lindsay moved away from her home in District 1. The zone covers the southwest corner of Washougal.

Peterson’s term would have expired at the end of 2017. According to the Washougal School District’s website, Lindsay’s term was set to end in 2016.

The board will soon pick replacements to serve out the rest of the two former members’ terms. Applicants must be registered voters who live in the districts for which they are applying.

A district map for Washougal can be found on the district’s website at www.washougal.k12.wa.us/. For applications and more information about the board or qualifications to serve, contact Cassi Marshall at 360-954-3005 or cassi.marshall@washougalsd.org.
