A public meeting to discuss alternatives for the 2015-17 hunting seasons in Washington will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive.
Hunting alternatives are available for perusal at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations/seasonsetting.
Among the issues under consideration are early archery elk seasons, modern firearms mule deer seasons, special permit drawings, baiting big game, spring and fall bear seasons and hunting equipment including non-toxic ammunition, expandable broad heads and crossbows.
Comments will be accepted on the alternatives through Sept. 20.
Dave Ware, game program manager, said specific recommendations for 2015-17 will be available for review in January. Final recommendations will be presented to the state Fish and Wildlife Commission next spring.
