Scooter driver misses curve near Camas

A Canadian citizen riding an Italian scooter was hurt in a noontime accident north of Camas today.

Ted J. Rea, 50, was riding his red Vespa motor scooter on Highway 500 about three miles north of Camas when he missed a curve and ran off the roadway. He was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for evaluation of injuries. He was wearing an approved safety helmet when the accident occurred.

Rea is a resident of Dauphin, Manitoba, according to the Washington State Patrol, which investigated the 12:20 p.m. accident.
