LEABURG, Ore. — The Leaburg Dam will be closed weekdays starting this week, except for one hour at noon each day.
The Eugene Register-Guard reports the dam is being closed to traffic by the Eugene Water & Electric Board to repair a gate. It is expected to reopen in October.
The dam road will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The weekday closures are expected to continue until Oct. 10.
The motor on one of the dam’s gates has been jammed since January 2012. The 16-foot-tall gates are raised and lowered to regulate the depth of Leaburg Lake and to allow debris to pass through.
