The Clark County Historical Society is inviting the community to meet new historical museum executive director Katie Anderson on Sept. 5.

The reception will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the John Stanger House on the grounds of the Jane Weber Evergreen Arboretum, 9215 S.E. Evergreen Highway.

Refreshments will include heirloom fruits and vegetables from the arboretum’s gardens, served with local breads, wines and cheeses.

Anderson was named executive director of the Clark County Historical Museum in July. She succeeded Susan Tissot, who headed the museum for 10½ years before taking a job in California.

Anderson previously was head of collections at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix; executive director at The Bead Museum in Glendale, Ariz.; and executive director of the Rome Area History Museum in Rome, Ga.

Built in 1867, the Stanger House is considered the oldest private home in the county still in its original location.

For information or to RSVP, contact the Clark County Historical Museum at info@cchmuseum.org or 360-993-5679.
