Letter: Exposure advantage for incumbent

The Columbian
Published: August 26, 2014, 5:00pm

I am writing concerning the recent articles featuring U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas. I believe The Columbian is illustrating a bias in favor of her.

Within the last several months (during an election year) I have noticed an up-tick in the number of articles featuring Herrera Beutler. Honestly, the information doesn’t expose her voting records on issues of importance to most of us, such as health insurance for all and voting 40 to 50 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, equal pay for women, jobs and unemployment, gun control, and wasted effort and taxpayer dollars suing the president.

I don’t see many articles published about her Democratic opponent, Bob Dingethal. By the way, before declaring his candidacy, Dingethal worked for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

I believe reporting should be fair and balanced. Many of my friends and acquaintances have discussed this unfair and unbalanced coverage of Herrera Beutler.
