The Fort Vancouver Vipers will hold their preseason tryout camp on Saturday and Sunday at Mountain View Ice Arena.

The team for players ages 16-20 plays in the Tier III Northern Pacific Hockey League, which this season features eight teams in Washington and Oregon. The training camp starts with player check-in at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Former Portland Winterhawk Jim Dobson, who also coached the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League, has joined Mike Dickerman on the Vipers coaching staff this season. Chuck Chshire, Vipers general manager, said only a few players are returning from last season and there are still openings for players.

The Vipers 42-game regular season opens with games Sept. 19-20 at Cheney. The first home games are Sept. 26-27 against Bellingham.

The team is seeking host families for out of town players. Interested families can contact Kelly Chavez at 360-601-8345 or kelly@fortvancouvervipers.com
