A Vancouver man was arrested Thursday after his live-in girlfriend found child pornography on his computer, according to court documents.

Aaron A. Hein, 24, appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of possessing and viewing child pornography.

Judge John Nichols held Hein in lieu of $75,000 and appointed Vancouver attorney Tonya Rulli to defend him. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 5 on the charges.

Hein’s girlfriend looked at his laptop at about 6 p.m. July 30 and noticed “evidence” on the screen that indicated he may have been downloading child pornography, according to a court affidavit.

The couple’s roommate copied the laptop’s contents before Hein was scheduled to move out, court documents say. When Hein moved out, he left behind two computer towers, which he had asked the roommate to work on, court documents say. The hard drive containing the laptop copy and the two computer towers were seized as evidence. Court documents indicate that two videos and 11 picture files found on Hein’s electronics contained child porn. There also was evidence of child porn in the laptop’s trash folder, court documents say.

Hein allegedly admitted to searching for and viewing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Hein’s laptop has been seized, and its contents are still under investigation, according to Vancouver police.
