PORTLAND — The National Weather Service says the freezing rain forecast Monday morning for the southern Willamette Valley and valleys along the Oregon Coast Range should change to rain by mid-day.

Forecasters expect snow above 5,000 feet in the central Oregon Cascades and down to 1,000 feet in the north Oregon Cascades.

The moisture moving into the cold air already in place in central Oregon will cause a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Forecasters say the wintry mix will change to rain by Monday afternoon with areas of snow in northeast Oregon.
