A pedestrian was critically injured when he was hit by a pickup in Washougal this evening.

The crash was reported at E and Fourth streets at 6:30 p.m. The Camas-Washougal Fire Department found a man wedged under the front end of a pickup at the edge of the road, said Battalion Chief Larry Larimer. The man was unconscious and unresponsive, but breathing.

The crew got the man out from underneath the truck and transported him to a local hospital by ambulance. Larimer described the man’s injuries as life-threatening and said he would need surgery.

Few details about the crash were available Monday night.
