ELLENSBURG — Central Washington University says it’s closing a $6.5 million budget gap this year by not filling 57 positions.

The university in Ellensburg says 41 positions are already vacant due to a hiring freeze. And, it will not replace people who are retiring.

CWU is asking the Legislature for more funding or to allow tuition increases.
