Girls basketball: Woodland 45, La Center 42

A fourth-quarter surge carried the visiting Beavers to the non-league win.

Kendall Grell hit two 3-pointers and scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter as Woodland outscored La Center 20-15 to earn the win.

Jessica Flanagan, who scored 15 points to pace Woodland, and Sidra Malik also each made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

In the third quarter, Bethany Whitten hit three 3-pointers for La Center, which turned a six-point halftime deficit into a two-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

Amber Malik collected 12 rebounds for Woodland, Grell grabbed nine boards and Flanagan and McKenna Mulder had eight rebounds apiece.

Bethany Whitten led La Center with 12 points. Katie Whitten had seven assists and six rebounds for the Wildcats. Shelby Vermuelen made four steals and grabbed five rebounds, and Taylor Mills had six rebounds.
