The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are offering an eight-hour boater education course Saturday.

The class starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Clark County Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St., Building B-1, in Vancouver. The $10 course fee includes the state booklet and exam.

Oregon and Washington boaters and paddlers 12 and older are welcome to learn the basics of boating safety.

In 2015, boater operators younger than 60 will be required to carry a boater education card while operating a boat of 15 horsepower or greater on Washington waterways. Oregon requires everyone operating 10 horsepower or greater vessels to have a card.

To register, contact Gay Sipes, 360-256-2991 or gaysipes@juno.com. For information on the Washington state boater education card and the State Parks Boating Education Program, visit www.boatered.org or call 360-902-8555.
