A man whom police say is more than likely responsible for a rash of car prowls in the area of St. Johns Boulevard and state Highway 500 was arrested Thursday morning.

A resident called 911 a little before 11 a.m. to report a suspicious person near 3808 N.E. 41st Court, in the Truman neighborhood.

A Clark County sheriff’s deputy did an area check and located a man who ran away when the deputy tried to talk to him, according to Sgt. Dave Trimble.

Items that Trimble said were obviously stolen were found in the area. Deputies set up containment in the area, and a police dog tracked and located the man a few houses away and took him into custody without incident, Trimble said.

Stanislov Golovntyuk, 21, of Vancouver was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and first-degree theft.

“We’ve been having some problems with car prowls in that area,” and the culprit is “more than likely” Golovntyuk, Trimble said. “Chances are he’s been pretty active in that area.”
