Letter: Police engage in pattern of force

What a surprise, prosecutors decide what evidence to send to the grand juries.

We have Michael Brown, unarmed, shot and killed; we have 12-year-old Tamir Rice shot and killed while playing in the park by a trigger-happy white cop within seconds of arriving on the scene; and we have Eric Garner choked to death, while telling the police he could not breathe, for selling single cigarettes.

None of this was reason enough for white cops to kill these African-Americans. None of these policemen was held accountable by grand juries. Police seem to be engaged in a pattern of unreasonable and unnecessary use of force. White-on-black killing by police are still continuing even after these high-profile cases.

Maybe we all should be wearing buttons that say “Don’t shoot.”
