Winter outings offered by Mount St. Helens Institute

CHELATCHIE — Seven snowshoe outings and two cross-country skiing trips in Southwest Washington will be offered between late January and late March by the nonprofit Mount St. Helens Institute.

The cost is $45 per participant. Snowshoe and trekking pole rentals are available for $15 per person, but cross-country ski and pole rentals are not available.

The Jan. 24 snowshoe trip to June Lake is sold out. Other snowshoe trips will go to Big Tree near Mount Adams, Goat March, June Lake, Old Man Pass, Ape Cave and Elk Rock.

The ski trips will go to Ice Cave and Natural Bridges near Trout Lake and Kalama trail on the south side of Mount St. Helens.
