Portland State tops Cal State Bakersfield 65-59

PORTLAND — Braxton Tucker scored 18 points to lead Portland State to a 65-59 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday.

Portland State nursed a 10 point lead with 1:45 to play, but Cal State Bakersfield rattled off six straight to make it 56-52. Seven Viking free throws, including five from Winston, held off the Roadrunners.

Tiegbe Bamba and DaShaun Wiggins each pitched in 13 points and Gary Winston added 12 points for the Vikings (5-3). Wiggins added nine rebounds.

Portland State made 20 of 25 free throws.

Aly Ahmed lead the Roadrunners (1-8) with 18 points and eight rebounds and Cortez Conners finished with 15, including three 3-pointers.

Portland State began the game with a 17-3 run and never trailed.

The Roadrunners made just 18 of 60 (30 percent) field goals, including 9 of 31 from 3-point range.
