A brief power outage left more than 22,000 customers in the dark Sunday, according to Clark Public Utilities.

Strong winds blew a tree into a transmission line near the Evergreen substation, said spokeswoman Erica Erland. At one point, the outage affected five substations and 22,327 customers in the Orchards area, she said.

The outage was first reported just before 7:30 p.m., Erland said. Most people had power restored by 8:30 p.m. A smaller number of people closer to the damaged line were without power until about 10 p.m., she said.

The outage came on the heels of a powerful windstorm that left tens of thousands of people without power Thursday. Cleanup from that event lasted into the weekend.
