Clark County’s recent Walk & Knock food drive is on track to slightly exceed the total food collected in 2013.

On Tuesday morning, Justin Wood, president of the annual Interservice Walk & Knock food drive, said the effort had collected more than 133 tons of food, plus $15,000 in cash donations so far. More money is expected over the next few weeks, he said.

Last year’s total was 128 tons of food. The grand total that Walk & Knock has raised in its 28-year history is just under 7.5 million pounds.

Walk & Knock, an entirely volunteer-driven event, always takes place the first Saturday in December. The food is shipped to the Clark County Food Bank warehouse for redistribution to many local food pantries and meal sites. Visit http://walkandknock.org.
