Firefighters quickly doused a fire in the bathroom of a Washougal home Friday afternoon. Six adults and several pets were displaced by the fire, which caused smoke damage throughout the house.

The Camas-Washougal Fire Department was dipatched at 1:17 p.m. to the single-story house at 631 34th St. Arriving firefighters found light smoke coming from the house and quickly put out the fire, Camas-Washougal Fire Chief Nick Swinhart said.

Battalion Chief Allen Wolk said a laundry basket in front of a heater had caught on fire. Although the small fire was quickly doused by firefighters, the house was smoky.

The Red Cross assisted the six residents by providing lodging, comfort kits and information about disaster health services.
