Santa Claus is coming to town

Jolly Ol’ St. Nick will arrive in Vancouver via his steam-powered sleigh, also known as the SP&S 700. In its day the locomotive pulled one of the premier passenger trains in the Pacific Northwest, and today it’s the largest steam locomotive still in operation. The Santa Steam Train sponsored by BNSF Railway will visit 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Vancouver Depot Amtrak Station, 1301 W. 11th St., Vancouver. Holiday jig

The ninth annual Celtic Christmas hosted by Molly’s Revenge will feature an evening of music, song and Irish dance. The concert includes vocalist Christa Burch, as Christmas songs and carols from around the world are given a Celtic twist. Ghost of Christmas

Portland Playhouse brings Charles Dickens’ classic tale to the stage with all its bah humbug. Set in 19th-century London, “A Christmas Carol” follows greedy Scrooge as he learns the meaning of Christmas from a stream of ghostly visitors. Nutcracker prince

Columbia Dance and its 90 local dancers will perform “The Nutcracker” to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score.
