PORTLAND — The heavy rain continues to cause problems on coastal roads.
The Oregon Department of Transportation says Highway 101 near Heceta Head will remain closed indefinitely to pedestrians, bicyclists, and all but emergency vehicles.
The agency says the roadway has been damaged by heavy rains, an active landslide and a failing retaining wall.
ODOT says that section of highway might be partially reopened Monday, with a single lane of traffic controlled by flaggers and a pilot car.
Elsewhere, high water temporarily closed Highway 229 about nine miles south of the junction with Highway 101 in Lincoln County.
High water along the Siuslaw River also temporarily closed Highway 126 at Cushman, about three miles east of Florence.
