CORVALLIS, Ore. — Police say a phony bell ringer took Salvation Army donations outside a grocery store in Corvallis.
The impostor last week stood by the red bucket, rang the bell, pocketed the cash and left before 10 a.m. when the legitimate volunteer arrived.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports a similar bell ringer theft occurred in Albany.
Police says more than one person may have scouted the bell-ringers’ schedule.
