Health exchange deadline extends for some in state

Published:

SEATTLE — Authorities are giving people who have been having technical problems signing up for health insurance through the state exchange more time to get insurance that begins Jan. 1.

The special 60-day enrollment period will allow some people to get retroactive insurance coverage. Most Washington residents were required to sign up for insurance by this Tuesday in order to have coverage on Jan. 1.

To qualify for the extension, people should fill out an online request form. People who need extra help or do not have internet access, may call the customer support center.

Open enrollment for insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder continues through Feb. 15.
