With only a few days left of 2014, there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the end of the year.

1. For young children

The Noon Year’s Eve Party lets kids celebrate the new year early, with music, crafts and activities. The free activities will run 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Three Creeks Community Library, 800 N.E. Tenney Road, Vancouver. Call 360-906-4790 or visit www.fvrl.org

2. For adults

Give a champagne toast at Vancouver’s New Year’s Eve at the Hilton party. Attendees will see performances by the Nu Wavers, who will play hits from the 1980s, Vancouver singers Beat Frequency and the Aerial Muse Collective. Proceeds benefit the Fort Vancouver National Trust. VIP admission and dinner begins at 6 p.m. with general admission opening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. New Year’s Eve at the Hoosegow is a benefit concert and prime rib dinner, with proceeds benefiting the Veterans Community Garden Project. 3. Swing or square dance

Dance the night away at the Luepke Senior Center’s sixth annual Swinging in the New Year’s Eve Dance, which will have a 1940s theme. The dance will feature the big band sound of Beacock Dance Band, along with light refreshments, party favors and sparkling cider from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Marshall Center, 1009 E. 5. Start 2015 with a hike

Start the month of January with a First Day Hike. State parks across Washington and Oregon will wave their day-use fees to encourage visitors to explore the outdoors. Hikers can join Beacon Rock State Park staff for a 2-mile guided hike at 10 a.m. Jan. 1 at the Beacon Rock Trailhead Picnic Shelter, 34841 State Highway 14, Skamania. Be sure to dress for the weather and trail. There also will be 10 a.m. hikes at the Rooster Rock State Park, Exit 25 on Highway 84 in Corbett, Ore., and the Twin Tunnels hike from the Mark O.
