Vancouver woman is Portland hotel homicide victim

A Vancouver woman whose body was found in a Portland hotel Friday morning was the victim of a homicide, the Portland Police Bureau reported Saturday.

Ashley Renee Benson, 24, was identified after an autopsy by the Oregon State Medical Examiner, according to a Portland Police Bureau bulletin. The exact cause of death was not disclosed beyond “homicidal violence,” and detectives are asking for the public’s help solving the case.

Police from the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct responded to a 10:44 a.m. report that a woman had died at the DoubleTree Hotel Lloyd Center, 1000 N.E. Multnomah St.

Homicide detectives, criminalists from the Portland Police Bureau’s Forensic Evidence Division and the Oregon State Medical Examiner responded and begin a death investigation. The autopsy results were released Saturday.

No suspect information was available, the bulletin said.

Police released a 2011 photo of Benson to aid in the investigation.
