The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says a Battle Ground man and his 9-year-old son who went missing overnight are safe. They got stuck in the snow but were eventually able to text a family member, said Sgt. Kevin Allais.

Michael Rudolph, 44, and his 9-year-old son, Aaron Rudolph of Missoula, Mont. failed to come home last night from a trip to go target shooting and hunt small game.

They left Battle Ground about 10:30 a.m. Monday in Rudolph’s 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and were to return home by 7 p.m.

When they didn’t arrive by late evening, deputies started searching back roads.

The Rudolphs reportedly had only a limited amount of cold weather gear with them.
