Letter: A sign of Christmas spirit shared

The Columbian
Published: December 29, 2014, 4:00pm

I would like to thank the stranger who came to my door on Dec. 20 to give me a beautiful 17″ x 34″ metal sign that said “The Simonson Family.” His story was that he had made it for a co-worker who no longer worked with him and wanted to find a Simonson in Vancouver to give it to and he found me. At first, I was skeptical and asked how much he wanted for the sign. He said nothing; he just wanted to give it to someone. I had just finished writing a letter to my dad to put on his grave for Christmas (he passed earlier this year), so I was already emotional. I started crying and told him I’d take it in honor of my dad. There are still those out there spreading the Christmas cheer.
