Published: December 30, 2014, 4:00pm

Clark College is hosting two Running Start information sessions for high school sophomores and juniors. The identical sessions are from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 14 and Feb. 11 in the gym in the O’Connell Sports Center on the main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. These sessions are for students and parents who want to know more about beginning the program in fall 2015.

Running Start allows eligible juniors and seniors to earn college credit while they fulfill high school graduation requirements. They can choose from a full range of academic and professional-technical courses as long as the students meet the criteria and the classes are college level.

The popular program can significantly reduce the cost of a college degree. Running Start students pay for books, transportation and some fees, but do not pay full Clark College tuition. Students can enroll full time or part time. Fee waivers and limited textbook assistance are available for those demonstrating financial need.

Some Running Start students earn their associate degree from Clark concurrently with earning their high school diploma. During fall quarter, Clark College welcomed 2,044 Running Start students, according to Linda Calvert, associate director of Running Start.

Parking will be available in the red lots east of Fort Vancouver Way and in the purple lot west of Fort Vancouver Way. Driving directions and parking maps are at www.clark.edu/map..
