Music fills this weekend, with performances by local and regional musicians.
Vancouver bluegrass band Fadin’ By 9 will hold a CD release party and concert for their new album “Gone.” The quartet is best known for putting a bluegrass spin on familiar folk and rock cover songs along with original pieces. “Gone” is the band’s second album.

Jazz pianist and vibraphonist Mike Horsfall will perform with percussionist Israel Annoh in the Jazz Vespers concert. Horsfall was a co-founder of the trio Tall Jazz, which became the first ensemble voted into the Jazz Society of Oregon’s Hall of Fame. Originally from Ghana, Annoh has taught drumming in Portland since 1982, and he is best known for his performances on the congo drums. Horsfall and Annoh will be joined by bassist Laurent Nickels and cantor Karyn Slanina.

2. Victorian comedy
Prairie Drama Club presents Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy “The Importance of Being Earnest,” as two gentlemen try to avoid their societal obligations by assuming pseudonyms of Ernest. But when they both pursue their lady loves under their fake names, misunderstandings and mistaken identities abound.

3. Student musicians show their skills
The 52nd annual Clark College Jazz Festival will name the best of the bands tonight. The preliminary rounds for the large high school divisions will take place throughout the morning and afternoon, as the ensembles compete for the top three spots in their divisions. The final competitions will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the Dale Beacock Memorial Sweepstakes Trophy presentation, which is awarded to the most outstanding band. Last year’s Sweepstakes band, Roosevelt High School Jazz I from Seattle, will also perform at 8:30 p.m..
