A man and woman from Longview were hospitalized the morning of Feb. 2 after their car crashed into a construction vehicle and caught fire near an Interstate 5 off ramp at Northeast 134th Street in Salmon Creek, according to the Washington State Patrol.

At about 5:15 a.m. that day, Victor Fenimore, 82, was driving a black 2007 Subaru Outback north on I-5, when he drove onto the off ramp for 134th Street. The car crossed through the intersection at 134th Street and crashed through a nearby construction fence. The car hit a construction vehicle and caught on fire, according to WSP.

Fenimore and his passenger, Patsy Fenimore, 77, were injured and transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Both were in critical condition on the day of the crash. Victor Fenimore died Feb. 20, according to police.

WSP says the cause of the crash was driver inattention.
