Linear Technology exec named to Workforce Development Council board

The controller of Linear Technology’s wafer fabrication plant in Camas is among the newest board members of the Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council.

Jim Lucey has served as controller for 16 years.

He previously was the financial accounting manager at Linear’s corporate headquarters in Milpitas, Calif. Lucey is a former accounting manager at Price Waterhouse.

He serves on the board of the Association of Washington Business and has been involved with several education and vocation advisory boards, including the Columbia-Willamette Workforce Collaborative Manufacturing Industry Panel and the Clark County Skills Center.

Mike Bomar, president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, is another new board member of the SWWDC. He is a former executive director of the Southwest Washington Contractors Association and director of government affairs with the Building Industry Association of Clark County.

Bomar is on the Clark County Skills Center Advisory Council, Development Engineering Advisory Board and the WSU Vancouver Alumni Advisory Board.

The third new board member on the workforce development council is Bill Skidmore, a senior account representative at McKinstry, a consulting, construction, energy and facilities services company.

He has 39 years of experience in mechanical commercial piping, plumbing and the HVAC industry. Skidmore was a partner and vice president of Misers, Inc., in Englewood, Col., and he owned his own company for more than a decade.

Skidmore has been involved in workforce investment for 10 years, serving on the Arapahoe/Douglas Workforce Investment Board of Colorado, the Colorado Energy Workforce committee and Colorado Science Technology Engineering Math board.

“We are fortunate to add the expertise and experience of Mike, Jim and Bill to our board,” said SWWDC Board Chair Jeffrey Graham.

He is a human resources project manager at United Natural Foods, Inc.

“Our continued partnerships between workforce development, industry and economic development are key to helping us get employers the right workers at the right time, and helping job candidates get the skills and jobs that meet their needs,” Graham said.

Board members serve 2.5 year terms.

The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council, a nonprofit organization founded in 2002, is the Workforce Investment Board for Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties. It brings together funding, state agencies, local service providers, colleges and community organizations to provide employment and training services to job seekers, youth and employers.

The board includes representatives from business, labor, community-based organizations and government agencies.
