Mountain View — Thunderbots, the robotics team from Mountain View High School, working in alliance with two Portland-area teams, took first place Jan. 26 in the Washington State First Tech Challenge Championships in Issaquah. The team designed, developed and programmed a robot that completed a series of tasks — first autonomously and then by remote control — including moving blocks, raising a flag and hanging from a bar. The team now moves up to compete in March in the 13-state Western Super Regionals in California.
