A two-alarm fire at Great Western Malting, 1705 N.W. Harborside Drive, sent one person to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to the Port of Vancouver, where a fire reportedly was contained to a piece of equipment in a pellet mill building, according to Jay Hamachek, a spokesman for Great Western Malting.

The fire was reported minutes after 10 a.m.

One ambulance reportedly transported an employee who was suffering from severe smoke inhalation, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by the Columbian.

The fire has been contained and caused no major damage, Hamachek said.
