Girls basketball: Woodland 52, Hoquiam 27

The Woodland Beavers made it 20 wins in 20 games this season, rolling past Hoquiam in the opening round of the Class 1A District 4 tournament.

Jessica Flanagan had 17 points, seven rebounds, and four steals to lead the Beavers. McKenna Mulder added 12 points, and Madison Sorenson scored nine.

Woodland will face Elma in the tournament semifinal Saturday.

The Beavers have had a long lay-off with the weather delays, and it showed with a “choppy” first quarter, according to Woodland coach Glen Flanagan.

The Beavers would then outscore Hoquiam 32-6 in the middle quarters.

Flanagan scored 11 of her points in the third quarter, when Woodland put it away.
