A rough offensive third quarter doomed Hockinson in a loss to Black Hills on Friday night in the first round of the Class 2A District 4 Tournament.

Hockinson took a one-point first quarter lead and only trailed by three heading into halftime.

However, Black Hills held Hockinson to just six points in the third quarter and Hockinson was unable to rally with their three-point shot failing them throughout the game.

“I thought we showed well tonight against a very good team,” said Hockinson coach Damon Roche.

Black Hills was active, getting to the free-throw line to get efficient points on a night when both teams were even from the field.

Black Hills had a 16 free-throw advantage on the night which tipped the scales in their favor.

Hockinson kept pace for three quarters but were unable to play a complete game to get the win.

Hannah Neihbauer scored 10 points to lead Hockinson to go along with five steals.

Brittany McGuire and Elle Tilkin were tied for the team lead for seven rebounds.

Up next for Hockinson will be an loser-out game on Monday against Aberdeen at 7:45 p.m. at Mark Morris.
